5 New Uses For Your Old Mac
So you’ve just upgraded your Mac…and you’re wondering what to do with the old one. Well, here’s a few things you can try with almost any Mac to get some use out of it, rather than letting it lie in the corner under the dust and cobwebs.
1. Share Your Internet Connection - Why not share your connection over Airport from your ethernet connection to boost the signal around your house or your apartment? It’s a great solution that helps get a signal to that corner you just can’t keep covered. Check out the article over at MacApper to find out how.
2. Turn It In To An Apple TV - You’ve seen the Apple TV…it looks great but whilst you have an old mac lying around, it has all the functionality of an Apple TV. You can check out the guide over at Apple TV Hacks on how to install the Apple TV OS on a Macbook.
3. Install Wordpress - This is great when you want to test themes, plugins or other ideas before you actually make a modification on your blog. Check out the guide over at Buzzdroid for an idea on how to set it up.
4. Turn It In To A Picture Frame - If you’re bored with your pictures, here’s a great guide from an issue of Macworld on how to turn an iBook or a PowerBook in to a picture frame.
5. Turn It In To An iPod HiFi - For those of you who have one or two of the old MacPlus, you can turn it in to a HiFi. Check out the pics over at Cnet
